Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, phone, tablet) that help websites remember information about your visit. They can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or “persistent” cookies (remain until expiry).

2. Why FixSlip uses cookies

FixSlip uses cookies only for essential functions:

2.1 Session Management (Essential)

When you log into FixSlip, we set a sessioncookie to keep you logged in across page views. Without this cookie, you'd need to re-enter your password on every click.

  • Cookie name: session or sessionToken
  • Lifespan: 30 days from last activity
  • Purpose: Authentication & authorization
  • Legal basis: Necessary for the service to function

2.2 Analytics (Plausible)

FixSlip uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics platform that does NOT use cookies. Plausible uses a single pixel-based request to log page views. No cookies. No tracking across sites. No personal data collected.

What Plausible tracks:

  • Page URL (anonymized)
  • Referrer (where users came from)
  • Device type (mobile / desktop / tablet)
  • Browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.)
  • Country (from IP, then IP is deleted)

What Plausible does NOT track:

  • Personal data (names, emails, IPs)
  • Cross-site behavior
  • User IDs or fingerprinting
  • Cookies

Learn more: Plausible Privacy Policy

2.3 Error Monitoring (Sentry)

FixSlip optionally uses Sentry to catch bugs and errors before they affect users. Sentry does not use cookies but may set a sentry-trace header in HTTP requests to track errors across services.

What Sentry collects:

  • Error stack traces
  • Browser console logs
  • Request/response breadcrumbs
  • User ID (hashed, not PII)

PII (names, emails, customer data) is scrubbed before sending to Sentry. Learn more: Sentry Privacy Policy

3. Third-party cookies

FixSlip does NOT use third-party cookies. We do not embed:

  • Google Analytics (no cookies)
  • Facebook Pixel
  • LinkedIn Insights
  • Intercom / live chat
  • Advertising pixels

The only third parties that may set cookies are:

  • Polar.sh (payment processor): may set cookies for payment session management
  • Twilio (SMS provider): may set cookies for API session tracking

See their privacy policies for details.

4. Cookie consent & control

FixSlip does not require cookie consent banners because:

  • Session cookies are necessary to provide the service (exempt from consent)
  • Plausible does not use cookies
  • No optional, non-essential cookies are set

Under GDPR and CCPA, we do not need to display a cookie banner or ask for consent for necessary cookies.

How to manage cookies

You can control cookies in your browser settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies and website data
  • Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Cookies

Warning: If you disable session cookies, you will not be able to log into FixSlip. Only disable cookies if you understand the consequences.

5. Do Not Track (DNT)

Some browsers allow you to send aDo Not Track (DNT) signal to websites. Plausible respects the DNT signal: if you have DNT enabled, we will not track your page views.

6. Public tracking pages

The public tracking pages at /track/[uuid] (accessed by customers) do NOT set any cookies. Customers can check their job status anonymously without any tracking.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect new cookies or services. If the change is material, we will notify you via email. Continued use of FixSlip means you accept the new policy.
